We won a championship this year since my team got together with Penske Shocks. We put the shocks on and it woke our Big Block program up. We had a real good year and honestly the shocks are just unparalleled to anything else. Having the at track support from Dave and Aaron at the shop supporting us has been a breath of fresh air for our program.
I’ve always heard about Penske being the best of the best in terms of reliability, precision and great customer service. Being fairly new to Penske Shocks and with the help of the Staff at Penske I’ve been able to get in the right direction on chassis setup and with bettering my Drag race times and at the same time making the car way more stable at high speeds making it all a win in my book. Hopefully to continue on and also to make the suspension better and car as a whole with their great service and experience in the near future!
Your suspension is one of the most important parts of your machine and I wouldn’t trust anyone else but Custom Axis to handle it. My shocks have allowed me to improve my lap times resulting in better finishes. Micah has been great to work with, turnaround time has been quick along with quality work. Micah is always interested in my feedback looking for ways to improve the shocks. Best shocks and people to work with hands down!

One of the reasons we love Penske shocks at RE Suspension is their consistency; very rarely do we need to tweak on their shocks to get the curves we want to see. Because of the piston options Penske offers, we can create almost any curve desired - their dampers are highly customizable because of the availability of options in bodies, metering rods, eyelets, etc. And we love that Penske is American based. Their design team is here in the US, which means they are always in touch with what our customer base needs most. The first thing I noticed when I ran the Penske Shocks on my Kawasaki 400 Jr. Cup machine, was how well it took the bumps. I also noticed how easy it was to tune, and how such small changes to the shock translated to big solutions on the bike. The Penske Shocks are just so consistent and after two back to back MotoAmerica Championships, 29 MotoAmerica wins and over 100 club race wins and many club race championships, my shocks have literally NEVER let me down, we have never had even one problem with them!
I flew down to your NC location because they had just got done updating our shock dyno and I wanted to learn how to operate it correctly. Then I figured if I was going to fly down for that I might as well see if Penske still offered a shock school. I found out they did and it’s one on one.
My day spent at Penske racing shocks was well worth it. Andrew Mohn and the rest of the staff down there were great. Any questions I had got answered in detail. I learned how to operate the new dyno software. I learned different things I didn’t know about and couldn’t find much literature on. One thing I went to learn about that I didn’t know much about was the understanding of a base valve in a shock. How to build one, how to test just the base valve, how to bleed a basevalve. I learned what tools I needed to remove and install them.
But the biggest thing of all of it was the way the guys made feel, it was an awesome day. I learned more than I could retain in a day. All hands on whatever I wanted to mess with. I buy all my Penske shock parts through Andrew Mohn now I call him down there or his cell and he will let me bounce ideas off him and gets me the parts shipped right out. Would recommend this school anyone interested in wanting to learn more about suspension, shocks, dyno, or any other related parts.
Definitely recommend this class to any racer that wants to win. To be able to understand what is going on inside a shock and to understand how to adjust it adds another level of thinking to your setup. It also gives you piece of mind knowing that you can routinely check your shocks with confidence. Dennis Wells was fantastic and really took the time to make sure I understood exactly what I was doing and what each piece of the shock does.
